There is a lady at a store I frequent in my neighborhood who insists on ending every single sentence she trades with me with “guero.” Literally every sentence. Some people will use it once or twice in a conversation but she uses it like oxygen, as though when I’m around she can only draw a breath with that word. It’s not meant to be offensive any more than gringo but it would be equally strange if someone in the states did the same thing with sir or even dude. Every single sentence.

Now go home and get your shine box, guero!
